Today’s Word is Zeal
"Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, at all the times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as you ever can."
- John Wesley
- John Wesley
Zeal is the last word in the A-Z exploration and suitably integrates the preceding words. Zeal is defined as, “Great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or an objective." The cause or objective of your journey is to be on purpose, to live your life authentically and by your design. When you respond to your life with liveliness and vigor; when you commit to expressing the best of life in your relationships, work and contributions to others, you are living with zeal.
“Zeal without knowledge is fire without light.” - Thomas Fuller
Zeal without awareness, without knowledge and without thoughtful consideration can foreshadow issues. It is through the attainment of wisdom and experience, combined with a fervent desire to understand yourself, that zeal can be effectively applied to your life and the endeavors contained within. It is like a spark that ignites the flame. You have probably experienced zealousness at different times in your life; brimming with passion as you pursued a new interest, embarked on a journey and conquered a challenge. The right amount of zeal can push you forward when the roadblocks seem insurmountable. I think this is the reason many successful people talk about doing something you are passionate about in life; this passion is a way to keep the spark of interest and intensity in your life and effectively propels your forward despite resistance. It is with tempered zeal that people have changed the world and made an impact. Armed with an understanding of the situation and the ultimate goals, they fed the fire with a healthy amount of passion and vim.
“Zeal is very blind, or badly regulated, when it encroaches upon the rights of others."
- Anonymous
Zealousness in the pursuit of being right, persecuting or inflicting a viewpoint onto another is narrow minded and short sighted and has been done throughout history, especially in the name of religion. This type of zealousness is one whereby knowledge, respect and cooperation are dropped in favor of winning and condemnation. This is done not for humanity, but in spite of it. I have seen clients inflict the same level of passion in pursuit of an objective; however the objective was to put themselves down, live in the past or blame others. Once they took that same amount of intensity and applied it to forgiving, moving on and loving, the doors opened and zest for life was reborn. Zeal is what we see in children; a curiosity and exuberance not yet reduced by the “reality” of life. Zeal means you are motivated to embrace challenges and opportunities with energy and are fully awakened to the possibilities of life.
We have reached the end of our journey from A-Z. My hope is that through the AWARENESS of your true essence, BELIEFS that support that very nature, COMMITMENT to your DREAMS and through listening to your EMOTIONS you will live with a FEARLESS spirit; feeling intense GRATITUDE and HAPPINESS within your life. Inspired to live with INTEGRITY; releasing yourself from JUDGMENT by extending KINDNESS and LIGHTHEARTEDNESS to yourself and others. Embracing the MOMENT to moment experience where saying NO to say yes opens the doors to OPPORTUNITIES, fulfilling your PURPOSE by expressing the very QUIDDITY that makes you, you. RESPECTING this uniqueness and embracing SILENCE as a way to hear the TRUTH about your life. Creating UNITY between all components to realize your VISION and WAKING-UP to the possibilities and lessons, no EXCUSES and no one to accuse. Saying YES to your life with ZEAL!! This is you ON PURPOSE!
Your purpose is not revealed to you in one big breath but in a slow drawn out sigh. It is the continual shaping and reshaping of your experiences in response to a higher call; in response to the undeniable human need to feel alive, to feel joy. That is being on purpose, answering the call to create, to express, to be. As we have journeyed through the twenty six letters, you have seen the importance and significance of not only accepting yourself but loving and treasuring who you are. This is your ultimate purpose, understanding that who you are being with yourself, informs what you are doing and creating in the world. There is no greater purpose than to be you.

You have provided me with 26 ah ha moments that have impacted me and will continue to impact my life as I awaken to who I am. I want to live my life on purpose and you have provided me with the ground work to begin. I am truly grateful. It is freeing to understand that it is ok to put myself first, to honor that person that has been hiding in the shadows. If I read the 2nd last paragraph of your blog on zeal every morning, it will bring into remembrance and solidify all that you have shared.
Thankyou.
I am looking forward to your next blog. I don't want the ah ha moments to stop.
Great Blog Series. Can't wait for the next installment. Managing to write a paragraph with all 26 words incorporated......impressive.
Thank you for letting me know what the postings have meant to you. It is my true desire that each and every one of us recognizes and honors the truth of who we are and if I have reminded you at all, then I am grateful for the opportunity!
