What's The Magic Word?

For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.
~T.S. Eliot

Happy New Year! I am excited to share another blog series and to let you know about some of the topics and ideas I have for 2012. In the next few days I will be sending out a survey to all my readers. I need your help and would love feedback on what topics and services would be most valuable to you. The next blog series will begin on Monday, January 16th, so if you have not yet subscribed to my blog, please do. This will ensure that you will receive each post in your inbox and can follow along as the series progresses. I will be exploring, Twelve Principles To Living Life On Purpose. I would love for you to post comments on the blog page or email me with your thoughts and ideas as you go through the posts. I am sure you will be inspired to look at your experiences and life in a renewed way.

LET US BEGIN

So here you are – the beginning of another year and all the promise that can hold. It is common to reflect during the changing of a year or on your birthday. The marking of time is a way to measure your experiences and to evaluate the trajectory of your life. These marking points are opportunities to reflect and focus on how you are spending your time and therefore your life. Many people begin the New Year with a long list of common and cliched resolutions, equally vague and self-flagellating. Please do not be one of them. Resist the temptation to detail all your shortcomings in the form of plea. Instead be kind to yourself. Offer yourself the compassion and understanding that you extend to others and begin this New Year by expressing kindness towards yourself and gratitude towards every single thing that is going well in your life, areas which are better than expected or issues which are improving here and now.

KEEP YOUR WORD

Rather than a multitude of To Do activities, I am beginning his year with a word, a mission, a promise to myself. That word is peace. Peace is a commitment to continually recognize the false illusions of the mind; the stories, the talk and the drama that my ego expresses whenever it feels scared or less than. I will remember I am not my thoughts. I am beyond, within and above the limitations and peace is a choice and my mandate. I will think, speak and demonstrate peace, first to myself and then to others. All resolutions come from the desire to feel better. Resolving to change something in order to experience more joy, health and happiness is valuable; however shift internally, claim and then keep your word. Living from this intention will feed external action and resolve will come naturally.

“Your own words are the bricks and mortar of the dreams you want to realize. Your words are the greatest power you have. The words you choose and their use establish the life you experience." - Sonia Choquette

So, what is your word this year? What is your mission? Do you see how knowing this will guide your choices in both thought and deed this coming year and beyond? What if you lived you life every second, guided by this statement? How would this year be different then the last? If you resolve; resolve to live with a new thought, which by thinking repetitively becomes your belief, which will then inform all your actions. Keeping your word will allow you to move forward and to see dramatic shifts in your life. Please go to my blog home page (if you receive my blog in your inbox, click on the title of the blog and you will be taken directly to the home page) and click on comments and share your word so that fellow readers may be inspired. Your word can be health, adventure, love, education and on and on, but whatever it is allow that to guide your year.

Goal setting is helpful, resolutions can be valuable, however sustained change occurs when you know what values and qualities the change will provide. If you would like help keeping your word, setting and achieving attainable, life honoring goals, please contact me at, onpurposelifecoaching@hotmail.com and we will make this a year for all time!

Interestingly the first post for Twelve Principles To Living Life On Purpose is titled, Words To Live By. Look for it January 16th!

What spoke volumes to me last year was "integrity". This year I will live with this as my mantra. Looking forward to your up and coming blogs.

During Christmas 3 words came to me: Love, Hope, Courage..then added Perseverance. It's fitting for me, as I go through divorce and creating a new life. I put it on my bathroom mirror. Thank you for your posts, please keep them coming. And as a thought..I would be interested in hearing about breaking free of old beliefs. :)

Thank you for sharing your words! My hope is that they guide you and inspire others to live their lives by their design. Beliefs are a core topic and I will make sure to include more information. Thanks for the feedback!
