THURSDAY’S THOUGHT:
Are you easy going or are you living easy?
Easy going is a state of mind whereas living easy is choosing the easy over the necessary. The necessary when it comes to being healthy, feeling joy and creating better relationships. The necessary actions, habits and thoughts that at first seem painful to stop, start and/or even become aware of and when denied, are not a sign of easy going, but a sign of living easy. Easy going is the ability to challenge perspective, find the lighter side and to extend compassion to yourself and others. Living easy is running away from yourself. It is the pattern whereby you avoid the pain and discomfort of facing, challenging, changing, apologizing and recognizing the parts of yourself and your life you must face. It is choosing the easy over the necessary and the necessary has a rather persistent quality of staying necessary.
“What is easy is seldom excellent.”~ Samuel Johnson
TAKE IT EASY?
It is simple to identify the difference between easy going and easy living – one feels empowering, good and healthy, and the key point - it leads to good things and it adds to your life. When you are living easy, the parts ignored, issues buried and challenges denied, inevitably lead to patterns, behaviors and problems that tend to grow and are screaming for attention. Life will feel out of control, stuck, hard, even more painful and choices become increasingly laborious, as running from yourself becomes nearly impossible.
AT EASE
An easy going state can be present when you are facing difficult decisions and situations. You can adopt this attitude and mind-frame, all while standing in the center of your life, doing what needs to be done - authentically, true to your values, taking full responsibility. It may not always feel easy, however when you cease to live easy, you will create a life of ease.
TAKE STOCK AND TAKE ACTION:
Where in your life are you avoiding the inevitable?
What have you known, for some time, that you need to address and face, but are scared or confused to do it?
What would you gain by living with ease rather than easy?
